43rd annual Open Air
Degree at the Masonic Park
August
4, 2007
Yancey C.
Blalock Lodge No. 265 sponsored the 2007 Open Air 3rd Degree and
the Filipino Masons of Greater Seattle did one of the best
conferrals the event has seen over the years. In attendance
were many members, committeemen, appointed and elected officers of the MWGL
F&AM of Washington as well as many appointed and elected officers
from the
Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of British Columbia and Yukon, Ancient
Free and Accepted Masons.
Grand Master's in attendance were: MW
Brother Wayne I. Smith, Grand Master of Masons in Washington; MW
Brother Stephen Godfrey, Grand Master of Masons in British Columbia
and the Yukon; and MW Brother Michael A. Sutton, Grand Master of the
Grand Lodge of Idaho, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.
If you were not
here you really missed a show!
This year's
degree did not draw a full house but the crowd that did attend went
home pleased. They all had a wonderful time. The park is now
seemingly in better condition than it has been in many years.
The roadways are without ruts and potholes and the park itself has
been lovingly repaired to better than ever condition. There is
still a lot of work to do but it doesn't really show. The
cosmetics make it look like a new park.
The bar-b-que
after the degree was well attended and this seemed to work better
than the previous practice of breaking for lunch during the degree.
The 44th annual
Open Air Degree will be hosted by St. John's Lodge No. 9 on August
2nd, 2008. We are certain that they will try to better this
year's performance. Put it on your calendar and be sure to
come out for this.
WB Darrel
Womack, the Grand Lodge Photographer and member of the Public
Relations Committee, took the following photographs of the 43rd
annual event. He hopes you like them and that you like what you see at the
park.
